Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • â…“ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2–3 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Add yeast mixture and mix until smooth.

  • Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Knead for 6–8 minutes until soft and elastic.

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.

  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.

  • Roll dough on a floured surface into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, leaving a small border. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

  • Roll dough tightly from the long side to form a log and pinch edges to seal.

  • Cut into 12 equal pieces using a sharp knife or dental floss. Place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes until slightly puffy.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

  • For the glaze, mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add milk gradually until smooth.

  • Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for smoother mixing.

  • Chocolate chunks can replace chips for larger pockets of chocolate.

  • Rolls can be prepared ahead, refrigerated overnight, and baked fresh.

  • Unbaked rolls freeze well; thaw in fridge before baking.

  • Brush melted butter before baking for extra softness.
