Description

There’s nothing quite like the aroma of freshly baked cookies filling your home. Buttery Cinnamon Spritz Cookies are perfect for cozy evenings, festive holidays, or just a simple sweet treat any time of year. Inspired by classic European baking traditions, these cookies combine a rich, buttery flavor with a hint of cinnamon for a crisp, tender bite that melts in your mouth. Simple to make yet elegant in appearance, they are ideal for sharing with family, gifting to friends, or enjoying with a warm cup of tea or coffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2–3 tablespoons milk (if needed for consistency)

Optional for decoration:

  • Sprinkles

  • Coarse sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.

  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Add milk if needed for a pipeable consistency.

  • Transfer the dough to a cookie press fitted with your desired disc, or a piping bag with a large star tip.

  • Pipe cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart. Add sprinkles or coarse sugar if desired.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Avoid overbaking to maintain a tender texture.

  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 3–5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to one week.

Notes

    • Dough can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours.

    • Experiment with different cookie shapes and decorations.

    • Store in an airtight container at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
