Ingredients
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
-
8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
-
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
-
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
-
4 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup cocoa powder
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1 cup chocolate chunks or chips
-
Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
-
Melt the butter and chopped chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
-
In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
-
Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and egg mixture, stirring gently until fully combined.
-
Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.
-
Fold in chocolate chunks and nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.
-
Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan using a spatula. Smooth the top for an even bake.
-
Bake for 30–35 minutes, checking doneness by inserting a toothpick—it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
-
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting.
-
Cut into squares and serve alone, with ice cream, or drizzled with chocolate sauce.
