Description

These brownies are rich, indulgent, and perfectly fudgy with a slight crisp on top. Packed with chocolate chunks, they’re a treat for any chocolate lover and perfect for sharing with family and friends or enjoying on a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chips

  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  • Melt the butter and chopped chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  • In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.

  • Slowly add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and egg mixture, stirring gently until fully combined.

  • Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.

  • Fold in chocolate chunks and nuts, if using, until evenly distributed.

  • Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan using a spatula. Smooth the top for an even bake.

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, checking doneness by inserting a toothpick—it should come out with a few moist crumbs.

  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting.

  • Cut into squares and serve alone, with ice cream, or drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the flour to keep brownies fudgy.

  • Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor.

  • For extra gooey brownies, slightly underbake and allow to cool completely.

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
