Description

A hearty, comforting baked casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and a creamy sauce, finished with melted cheese for a satisfying homestyle meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ pounds ground beef

  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté onion until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Season and drain excess fat.

  • Mix condensed soup and milk until smooth.

  • Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish, followed by half the beef and half the sauce. Repeat layers.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

  • Uncover, add cheese, and bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

  • Rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Slice potatoes evenly for best results. Let the casserole rest before serving to help it set and enhance flavor.
