A comforting, crowd-pleasing dish of tender meatballs slow-cooked in a rich BBQ sauce, perfect for parties and gatherings.
Ingredients
- Ground beef – 2 pounds
- Breadcrumbs – 1 cup
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Large eggs – 2
- Onion, finely chopped – 1 medium (about 1 cup)
- Garlic, minced – 3 cloves
- Salt – 1 1/2 teaspoons
- Black pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon
- BBQ sauce – 2 cups
- Tomato sauce – 1 cup
- Brown sugar – 1/4 cup
- Worcestershire-style sauce (non-alcoholic) – 2 tablespoons
- Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder – 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- Combine breadcrumbs and milk in a large bowl and let soak for 2 minutes.
- Add ground beef, eggs, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently.
- Shape into 1 1/2-inch meatballs.
- Brown meatballs in a lightly greased skillet for 2–3 minutes per side.
- Place meatballs in the crockpot.
- Mix BBQ sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire-style sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour sauce over meatballs and stir gently.
- Cook on low for 4–5 hours or on high for 2–3 hours.
- Serve warm.
Notes
These meatballs can be prepared ahead of time and reheated in the crockpot. Serve as an appetizer, slider filling, or main dish with your favorite sides.
