Description

These homemade churro bites are a fun, quick, and healthier twist on a classic treat. Made in the air fryer with minimal oil, they come out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—perfect for a sweet snack, dessert, or a weekend family treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or all-purpose flour)

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (or unsalted butter)

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for coating)

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Cooking spray or a bit of melted coconut oil


Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, heat water, coconut oil, sugar, and salt over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  • Remove from heat and quickly stir in flour until a smooth dough forms. Let it cool for 5 minutes.

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla until fully combined.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.

  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small bite-sized pieces into the air fryer basket, leaving space between each.

  • Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.

  • Mix cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Toss warm churro bites in the mixture until fully coated.

  • Serve warm with optional dipping sauces like chocolate or caramel.

Notes

  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer—cook in batches if needed.

  • For gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to crisp up again.

  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less cinnamon sugar coating.
