Description

A tender, slow-cooked chicken dish coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce that’s perfect for easy dinners and comforting meals.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs – 2 pounds (900 g)
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Honey – ½ cup (170 g)
  • Low-sodium soy sauce – ½ cup (120 ml)
  • Garlic, minced – 6 cloves (18 g)
  • Ketchup – ¼ cup (60 g)
  • Rice vinegar – 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Sesame oil – 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Ground ginger – 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch – 2 tablespoons
  • Water – 3 tablespoons (45 ml)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper and place in the slow cooker.
  2. Whisk honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger.
  3. Pour sauce over chicken.
  4. Cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  5. Remove chicken, stir cornstarch slurry into sauce, and cook until thickened.
  6. Return chicken to sauce, garnish, and serve.

Notes

Chicken thighs provide the most tender results, but chicken breasts can be used with reduced cooking time. Adjust sweetness by reducing honey if desired.
