Ingredients
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 large egg
-
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
-
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon baking powder
-
¼ teaspoon salt
Optional for decoration: -
Colored sugar or sprinkles
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
-
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, beating until well combined.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
-
Prepare your cookie press with the desired disc shape and fill according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
-
Press the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies about 1 inch apart. Sprinkle colored sugar or sprinkles on top if desired.
-
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are just starting to turn golden. The centers should remain soft.
-
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Notes
-
Make sure butter and egg are at room temperature for smooth dough.
-
If dough becomes too soft, chill for 10–15 minutes before pressing.
-
Use a kitchen scale or spoon and level your flour to avoid dry cookies.
-
Try natural food coloring, finely chopped nuts, or different sprinkles for variety.
